Kellogg Director, Category Strategy - Salty Snacks in Michigan

In your role as Director, Category Strategy, you will create and direct the strategy and execution of the Salty Snacking category vision and own the deployment of shelving and assortment guidance. Keeping the shopper and consumer at the heart of your work, you’ll align with our customers’ priorities, build partnerships, and initiate the strategic and conceptual positioning of Kellogg through sales programs to deliver total Category Strategy, Top Line Growth, and increase Bottom Line Profitability.   • Category Strategy : Develop and drive the Category Strategy of two very competitive and dynamic categories. You’ll manage the translation of the Salty Snacking Vision to Customer specific initiatives thru a shopper first lens. Which includes the development, communication, and measurement of Perfect Shelf standards at retail (and Perfect Pallet in Club) to increase conversion at shelf. You will also play a critical role in our innovation strategy and deployment to ensure end-to-end strategy. Our perfect shelf starts with you.

  • Category Management: With a focus on creating the perfect shelf you’ll own the process to identify Never Outs and Must Have assortment prioritization for the Salty Snacking category. You’ll manage the communication, enablement, and measurement of those recommendations and work closely with your counterparts within the sales teams to deliver optimal category results.

  • Driving Engagement: Through your strong partnership with your peers, the Directors of Commercial Strategy, Innovation, Sales, Catman, and Revenue Growth Management, you’ll establish discipline to provide the right pack, in the right place, for the right price.



  • Several years’ Sales, Marketing, or Category Strategy experience, in roles with increasing amounts of leadership in a matrixed organization

  • Experience utilizing syndicated data to story-tell and decision-make

  • In this role, you’ll have two direct reports. Previous people leadership experience is a must

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Extensive leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically

  • Strong communication & presentation skills

    Bonus Points:

  • CPG Food/Snacking experience is a plus

  • Customer Facing Experience

    Relocation is being offered. The Primary Work Location for this role is Battle Creek, MI. In lieu of relocation we are open to a commuting arrangement from Chicago, or other nearby locations with the expectation that the employee works from the Battle Creek office at least 50% per month.
