Kellanova Senior Payroll Manager in Kentwood, Michigan

As a Senior Payroll Manager, your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities. You’ll be responsible for overseeing payroll processing, reconciliation, tax and benefit funding, as well as ensuring payroll compliance for the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Your leadership will extend to a team of 3 Payroll Managers, where you’ll drive adherence to regulations and process payroll with precision. Operating with a continuous improvement mindset, you’ll guide your team through change, leveraging your can-do, go-getter attitude. Drawing on your industry expertise and critical thinking skills, you’ll help meet deadlines and ensure successful execution of payroll tasks. This hybrid position can be based in Grand Rapids, MI or Battle Creek, MI and manages a total team of 17.

A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing

  • Process Improvement – Evaluate and adjust organizational plans and priorities to tackle resource or operational obstacles. Recommend and implement modifications to existing corporate policies, to address challenges and ensure compliance

  • Payroll Acumen – On a daily and weekly basis, you will oversee the budget and lead the team to produce and review payroll related general ledger account reconciliations. Ensuring employee payroll records are accurate and in compliance for 13 US based plants as well as hourly and salaried employees in the US, Puerto Rico, and Canada

  • Leading and Developing People – You will lead a team of Payroll Managers and will be accountable for making sure staff is properly trained to perform assigned responsibilities effectively, efficiently, and accurately. You will set direction and guide this team in meeting critical deadlines

  • Collaborate – You will partner with payroll system administrators, tax, compliance, IT, legal, labor, and HR to provide expertise in regard to payroll matters, solving issues and improving processes. Leading external vendor partnerships will also be important for success

    We’re Looking for Someone With

  • Bachelor’s Degree and accounting and/or payroll leadership experience

  • Proven record of managing payroll in a Fortune 500 Company, or for employee populations of >/= 10,000 with multiple legal entities, global experience preferred

  • Extensive payroll software experience; preferably Dayforce

  • Knowledge of laws pertaining to wage assignments, garnishments, income tax levies, labor laws, FLSA, etc.
