Kellogg Culinary Business Development Manager in CHICAGO, Illinois

In this role of Culinary Business Development Manager you will grow with us as you provide strategic Culinary Leadership to Commercial Restaurant Chains, Partner with Kellogg’s Specialty Channel Cross Functional Stakeholders - Marketing, R&D and Insights, by prioritizing and directing activities and engaging with external Culinary Resources to execute projects in order to leverage the influence of Food Trends, Ingredients, Concepts and Application. Lead with us as you are exposed to a vast array of National Restaurant Chain Operators and Consumers. Innovate with us as you Brand Build in the Commercial sector through the integration of Culinary Arts and leveraging the discipline of Culinology, to lead product activation, drive customer support, back-of-house ease and elevate awareness, maintain and evolve Culinary Culture in the Company.This role provides an excellent opportunity for exposure across all levels of the organization.

Culinary Engagement (60%)

  • Working directly Chef-to-Chef with Restaurant Chain’s Culinary Teams to ideate concepts creations leveraging Kellogg brands while delivering back-of-house solutions

  • Planning and leading Culinary Presentation and Tours for Top-to-Top Meetings, Customer Meetings and Growth Summits

  • Planning and Executing Subjective, Inspirational Culinary Explorations

  • Interacting, Maintaining and Employing External Network of Culinary Resources and be the facilitator and primary point of contact for surveys, inquiries and project engagement.

  • Partnering with the Culinary Capabilities within our Vendors.

Culinary Activation (25%)

  • Partnering with Consumer Insights and Brand Marketing Team and translate their learnings into actionable culinary design sessions and protocepting.

  • Receiving and prioritizing requests from Channel Marketing and Brand Activation Teams

  • Planning and leading recipe development for Commercial Chain’s Customers to drive sales, incremental revenue along with operational efficiencies

  • Leading, Planning and Executing Objective, Project Specific Culinary, Ideations and Immersions with National Restaurant Chains

  • Providing Culinary Resources for Foodservice Industry Relations

  • Prioritizing and leading Culinary Resources for KSC growth and innovation planning activities

Culinary Insights & Knowledge Transfer (10%)

  • Developing, Implementing and Documenting Culinary Gold Standard Prototypes, Recipes and Formulas

  • Developing systems to prevent or minimize waste and loss of equipment

Culinary Culture and Skills Development (5%)

  • Planning and leading regular culinary learning sessions for fundamental and advanced skills, cultural emersions and trends presentations

  • Mentoring and tutoring food scientists and technologists that are pursuing Certification as Culinary Scientists

  • Training and developing staff / interns



  • Formal, Culinary Arts Training or significant work experience

  • Culinary creativity and menu writing abilities

  • Excellent knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentations

  • A thorough knowledge of food preparation and presentation

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to Lead and Influence Food Preparations and Presentations

  • Experience with purchasing and maintaining inventory levels

  • Proficient in menu development, cost controls, purchasing and inventory

  • Ability to get along well with others, to demonstrate flexibility and patience, to work as a member of a team

  • Positively behaving in a respectful and mentoring manner consistent with our core values

Bonus Points:

  • Bachelor Degree, Major in Culinary

  • Extensive fine dining and catering expertise

  • Commercial Restaurant Chain R&D and Culinary relationships and influencing

  • ServSafe® certification is a plus

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications and an operating knowledge of food management systems

This position requires extensive travel, up to 50% depending on geography and customer base.
