Join our research and development team as a Hybrid Senior Food Designer / Project Manager! We want your expertise to invent and lead significant “Value Innovation” savings projects from idea creation through launch. Engage with us as you impact our success as a technical resource to various functions within the company and provide technical leadership to project teams. Innovate with us as you develop and refine processes from idea generation through proof of concept to commercialization.
As you assume the role of value innovator, project leader, and technical problem solver you will use your seasoned experience and team up with cross-functional partners to provide timely and cost-effective value innovation and renovation to drive growth. Lead complex Supply Chain initiatives as technical subject matter expert. Plus, you’ll get to work on a broad cross-section of iconic Kellogg brands like Cheez-It, Special K, Pringles, Pop-Tarts, Rice Krispies Treats, Nutri-Grain, Frosted Flakes… the list goes on and on!

Drive Business Growth – Creating and coordinating key-value and renovation projects while giving general direction to assigned teams in accomplishing projects from both a technical and project management perspective. Proactive leadership, influence, and a results-driven mindset are key.
Project Management – Demonstrate leadership through personal capabilities as a Project and Program Manager, Planner, Coordinator, Communicator, and Technical Expert within the department. Showcase the ability to lead within ambiguity and respond creatively with original ideas to solve business challenges. Display Risk Management skills in anticipating project risk and developing contingency plans.
Leadership – A bridge-builder with the passion and ability to work cross-functionally with others to identify solutions and influence others, including extensive work with external partners. Ability to Lead or Facilitate cross-functional ideation with strong brand and consumer understanding.
Innovation/Creativity – Provide innovative, timely, and cost-effective improvements, concepts, developments, or scientific insight and understanding with respect to existing products or processes. An innovative mindset is key!
Technical Expertise - Provides technical problem solving and knowledge transfer across R&D and on occasion to Supply Chain. Use your leadership and expertise within R&D as an expert in a specific discipline who keeps current with the latest developments and technology through curiosity, investigation, training, and communication within that discipline.

Owner’s mindset and entrepreneurial spirit!
Bachelor of Science Degree in science or engineering or related field and extensive relevant experience
Project Management expertise to manage sustaining and transforming projects (renovations, value innovation savings, or moderate capital projects)
Proven track record of leadership, business acumen, communication skills, and diplomacy
Technical thought leader with continuous improvement approach
Are you a strong leader? We’d love to have your Leadership, cost consciousness, communication skills, and diplomacy that will promote good relations with all facets of management and other technical and scientific disciplines in the effective execution of projects
Your experience in product formula optimization and assessing emerging technologies in the food industry will be an asset here!
MSc in Food Science or related discipline or PhD in Food Science or related discipline with significant relevant work experience in a related role
Passion for continuous improvement and product optimization
Strength in effectively working with individual contributors up to senior leaders and VP’s
Know-how to provide technical expertise on a portfolio of complex projects

This role is based in Battle Creek, MI. This role requires travel and flexibility in your schedule, inclusive of domestic and international travel for manufacturing trials, consumer research and external partner collaboration is estimated at 20-30% of work time.
