Kellogg KWS Manager in Battle Creek, Michigan

The Kellogg Work System (KWS) Manager will drive overall plant effort to improve OEE and deliver cost savings through building capability in KWS methodologies, systems and tools. KWS methodologies will include but are not limited to: safety of people and food, product quality, leadership and service the business, sources of loss, unit cost, and employee methods and performance.

  • Leadership : Leads the Phase Progression Campaign for KWS; Coaches the KWS center of excellence (COE) leaders and members; Train and coach leadership and management skills for all plant employees; Supports the rest of Leadership in driving the KWS implementation; Coordinates KWS training at all levels; Supports team and team approach to solving problems. Maintains positive and productive relations with the hourly workforce, plant management team, and corporate representatives.

  • Business Acumen : Maintains appropriate balance between short term business delivery and longer-term strategic priorities; Responsible for driving cost ideations and diagnostics; Drives High-Value Projects (SMED, ZLA, Problem Solving – 6W2H, Why-Why); Drives Standard work efforts and assists in the annual budgeting process.

  • Act as a KWS Champion: Actively supports the teams in the KWS activities; Participates in defining and executing the Master plan; Communicates KWS activities and results; Integrates the COEs, supports gives and gets; Coordinates with Regional KWS Directors; Assures compliance Corporate KWS Standards; Acts as a technical resource to supervisors and managers; Acts as a champion for safety and works closely with the Safety

  • Be an efficiency expert : Identifies process inefficiencies and sources of loss and coordinates/facilitates activities using cross-functional resources to eliminate them; Tracks and trends sources of loss, improvements efforts and educates employees along with communicating progress; Accountable for benchmarking and best practice sharing across the organization; Tracks assigned variable labor accounts, ensuring that labor is being utilized efficiently, assigned to the proper account, and is within budget.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering or technical or business field

  • Must have CI (Lean, TPM, Six Sigma, KWS, IWS, HPO) experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites

    Bonus Points:

  • Master’s Degree in technical or business field

  • Effective communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity

  • Organization and planning skills with the ability to prioritize workloads

  • Ability to lead cross functional teams and work with people across all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others
